According to a survey done by the global matching platform Couple.net, involving 483 singles (241 men and 242 women), men first notice a woman’s eyes while women pay attention to a man’s height.
For men on a first date, the order of physical attributes they notice first was eyes (27.4%), face (11.2%), figure (9.5%), expression (7.1%), legs (6.2%), and height (5%).
On the other hand, for women, it was height (24%), eyes (17.4%), expression (11.6%), nose (5%), figure (4.5%), and face (4.1%).
Focusing on what men and women look at first, it’s evident that there are gender differences in what physical attributes are considered important. Interpreting these observations, we can see that men find a woman’s eyes crucial and height less so, whereas for women, a man’s height is significant, and his face, less so.
Interestingly, both genders place a high value on an individual’s eyes, with it being the top for men and second for women.
Leveraging these tendencies in dating can lead to favorable outcomes. Since a woman’s height and a man’s facial appearance rank lower in what the opposite sex notices first, shorter women and men with average looks should approach dating with more confidence.
Furthermore, it’s also important not to dwell on your perceived flaws but to highlight your strengths.
Shorter men can focus on having engaging eyes or a pleasant expression, and women who are less confident with their appearance can work on their eye appeal through beauty treatments or take care of their figure to make a good impression.
