The first thing we stress to our managers is that you can’t judge people based on your own life experiences.
With 1,000, or even, 100 members, each person has their unique style and beliefs.
There is no right or wrong, rather we need to approach our service believing that there is no wrong. Even though we do our best for our members, there are those who end up hurting our managers or even their dates.
In every industry, there are those you’d rather not deal with. Marriage agencies are no exception.
That’s why we manage a blacklist and block certain people from registering with our agency. At Sunwoo, we analyzed the data of 800 managers, who have worked with us for the past 30 years managing over 180,206 members, along with the matchmaking data collected over 32 years to organize the ratios and types of people who occupy our blacklist.
For starters, the blacklist ratio was 1 in 1,000 men and 1 in 1,200 women. These are extremely low percentages of 0.001% and 0.0008% of all members, but we are still trying to minimize them.
A woman named A hardly exchanges more than three words during a date, making it difficult for a conversation to continue. But if the date doesn’t go well, she sends the managers emails filled with unspeakable insults.
Women who meet a man named B end up cutting off contact. B is so rude and aggressive that the women he meets are too scared to report him and they just sever ties.
Looking at the type of men on the blacklist, the top reasons were foul language and rudeness. Especially for men, foul language accounted for 50% of the reasons.
For women on the blacklist, the top reasons were foul language, asking for gifts, and being overly clingy. Overall, when dating, the problem often boils down to the way a person speaks. This was the most common reason for people ending up on the blacklist for both men and women.
It’s important to be careful not to meet such people, and equally important not to become such a person yourself. If a date doesn’t go well, don’t just blame the other person. Instead,
it might be a good idea to reflect on whether you’re exhibiting any blacklist behaviors yourself.
